My Most Important Take Away from Using Situational Leadership

After using Situational Leadership for some time now what I find myself doing before I pass judgment on a follower is reflecting on the situation and making sure that I, as the leader, provided all the tools needed for the follower to be successful at the task.

Sometimes I feel I have provided all the tools and other times there may be things I could of provided to give the follower a better chance of success.

So the most important take away form using Situational Leadership is:

As a Leader you owe to the Follower to hold a self Retrospective before confronting a follower about performance on a given task.  Often it is very helpful to hold a Retrospective with the leader and follower (better yet the whole team) but only after the leader has done a self Retrospective.
